Snowshoe Snowflake

This was made with wax resist and a swirl of Prussian blue watercolour with mica fragments for sparkle. A visitor to the studio said they resemble sand dollars.
The Book of Kells was decorated with crushed oak apples (galls), lapis lazuli, and beetle's wings.
